Swedish Massage Definition • A certain type of massage that employs certain techniques for relaxation and to increase circulation. • 6 Main techniques used: • Effleurage: Gliding strokes with the palms, thumbs and/or fingertips • Petrissage: Kneading movements with the hands, thumbs and/or fingers • Friction: Circular pressures with the palms of hands, thumbs and/or fingers • Vibration: Oscillatory movements that shake or vibrate the body • Percussion: Brisk hacking or tapping • Passive and active movements: Bending and stretching

  3. What Country Did It Originate From? • The origin of Swedish massage is often speculated, and under discussion. Some reports claim it came from Sweden, thus it’s namesake, others claim it was started in the Netherlands

  7. What Are The Benefits Of Swedish Massage? • Swedish massage can help with many ailments and improve overall well being. • It is relaxing, invigorating, speeds healing, improves blood pressure and circulation. • Also, it affects your muscles and promotes overall health.
