  2. James 3:13 • “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom”

  3. Who Is A Wise Man? • According to James: • A man of understanding! • Psalms 119:125 • A man of good works! • Titus 2:7 • A man of good conduct! • Psalms 50:23 • A man who works! • 2 Thessalonians 3:10 • A man who is meek! • Psalms 25:9

  4. What is Wisdom? • “a wise attitude, belief, or course of action” • Webster’s online dictionary • “the quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight” • Dictionary.com

  5. Knowledge & Wisdom? • “Knowledge” is what one knows and “wisdom” is “the ability to judge soundly and deal sagaciously with facts, especially as they relate to life and conduct” - Webster

  6. True Wisdom • “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy” (NKJV)– James 3:17 • In contrast to worldly “wisdom”! • 1 Cor. 1:19-31 • Cf. James 3:13-16

Who is a Wise Man? • One who wins souls! • “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever” – Daniel 12:3 • Proverbs11:30 • Matthew 16:26 • James 5:20; Romans 11:14 • 1 Timothy 4:16; 1 Peter 4:8 The wise man sees his responsibility toward the lost!

Who is a Wise Man? • One who prepares to meet the Bridegroom! • Matthew 25:1-13 • Wise virgins made preparation! • “were ready”! • Allowed to “go in”! • The “door was shut” - never to be opened! • Foolish virgins did not prepare! • Jesus said, “I know you not”! • Follow the counsel of the wise man Amos! • “…prepare to meet they God O Israel.” – Amos 4:12 • He has “appointed a day” - Acts 17:30-31 The wise man will prepare to meet the righteous Judge of all judges - Jesus!
