National TransportationOperationsCoalition SAFETEA: Operations Provisions • Legislatively establishes Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O). • Promotes regional operations coordination/collaboration. • Establishes a Real-Time System Management Information Program. • Focuses resources on improving system performance. • Creates an institutional focus on freight management. • Funds a strong ITS & R&D program; supports separate Operations R&D program.
The National Transportation Operations Coalition (NTOC) • Partnership of national associations who represent transportation professionals and non-traditional stakeholders (elected/appointed officials). • Involved in transportation operations activities and decisionmaking at State, local, and regionallevels. • Meet bi-annually to identify strategies and develop resources to help advance transportation operations. • Currently five subject specific Action Teams meet monthly to work on activities tied to current issues.
