  5. Tanka • Similar to the Haiku, the Tanka is a 31 syllable poem that is typically written about a season or nature. • It is older than the haiku • The tanka has 5 lines with 5,7,5,7,7 syllables in each life.

  6. Yellow daffodils In both our gardens I praise mine More than my neighbor’s Though they look the same

  8. Cinaquain • This is a variation of the tanka developed by an American writer. It also has 5 lines but a different syllable pattern: 2,4,6,8,2
