NP is economic and cultural center of Sandzak region • NP is located 290 km on the south from Belgrade • It occupies 742 km^2 together with 100 neighbor settled area • The first written document where NP was mentioned is dated in XV century • Evlija Čelebija wrote in XVII century that NP was one of largest cities on Balkan • After the first World War it was marginalized and now is one of the most underdeveloped region in Serbia.

  24. Accreditation of UNP for R&D • In November 2007 UNP was accredited by Ministry of Science of Republic of Serbia for R&D • This accreditation was prerequisite for the organization of PhD studies at UNP • UNP can now participate at R&D projects (Serbian and international)

  27. Bachelor study program in Math The main features of study program MATH are: • All subjects last one semester and bring 6 ЕСTS as well as two projects in 6th and 8th semester. Curricula contains 38 subjects distributed as • 1st year: 10 compulsory subjects • 2nd year: 10 compulsory subjects • 3rd year: 6 compulsory subjects + 3 electives + 1 project • 4th year: 4 compulsory subjects + 5 electives + 1 project

  28. Master study program in Math In the 1st semester student has to choose 4 of 5 electives (4x6ECTS=24 ECTS) 1. Theory of approximation 2. Parallel methods 3. Numerical analysis II 4. Software design 5. Communicology and to complete Practical Project (6 ECTS)

  29. Master study program in Math In the 2nd semester student has to choose 1 of 2 electives (6ECTS) 1. Cryptography 2. E-business and to complete diploma (master) thesis (24 ECTS)

  30. PhD study program in Math In the 1st semester student has to complete the following subjects 1. Methods of scientific conclusions (10 ECTS) 2. Elective course (10 ECTS) 3. Seminar’s work (10 ECTS) In the 2nd semester student has to complete the following subjects 1. Methodology of scientific research (10 ECTS) 2. Elective course (10 ECTS) 3. Seminar’s work (10 ECTS)

PhD study program in Math In the 3rd semester student has to choose two elective courses (2x10 ECTS), and to complete seminar’s work (10 ECTS) In the 4th semester student has to complete seminar’s work (30 ECTS) In the 5th and 6th semesters student has to continue his research and to complete and present his PhD dissertation (2x30ECTS)

PhD study program in Math The required prerequisites for the official registration of PhD thesis • To complete all the duties in the first four semesters (120 ECTS) and publish at least two papers in recognized journals from the SCI list. • Two or more students at doctoral studies can not use the same papers in the process of PhD registration

  35. Other study programs in Math The curricula are related to the three main study programs each composed of two modules • 1a. MATHEMATICS and INFORMATICS with majors in Mathematics • 1b. INFORMATICS and MATHEMATICS with majors in Informatics • 2a. MATHEMATICS and PHYSICS with majors in Mathematics • 2b. PHYSICS and MATHEMATICS with majors in Physics • 3a. INFORMATICS and PHYSICS with majors in Informatics • 3b. PHYSICS and INFORMATICS with majors in Physics

Other study programs in Math • The first year curricula is common for all three study programs. • In the second year curricula for each of three study programs the subjects for both modulus dominate. • In the third year curricula the subjects for particular modulus, in the frame of study program, are predominate and the final project is related with the majors in modulus.

Other study programs in Math The main general characteristics of proposed curricula are • The ECTS credit system is introduced • Each study program is composed of 34 subjects (26 are compulsory and 4 from 8 are electives). • The study program is completed with 30 subjects (30 subjects x 6 ECTS=180 ECTS) • The projected workload for students is 1500 work hours/year (10 subjects/year x 6 ECTS credits x 25 work hours/credit = 1500 hours/year)
