  2. BATTLE of LEXINGTON and CONCORD • Lexington,1775, The patriots slowed down the British. • Concord,1775, The patriots were able to decrease the number of British troops.

  3. Bunker Hill • The Battle of Bunker Hill was in 1775 • The British won the battle, but were left very wounded • The British lost many troops, and they also learned the Patriots would be harder to fight then they had originally thought

  4. The Battle of Long Island In 1776 the British defeated the Americans. The Americans showed great bravery , and the British found out that they were not going to go down without a fight.

  5. Battle of Trenton/Princeton • 1776 • On Christmas night, George Washington sailed across the Delaware River and captured 900 Hessians. • The Patriots won

  6. Saratoga Battle • October 17,1777 • General Burgoune surrendered oeneral Howe resigned • Patriots won

  7. Yorktown • 1780-1781 • America gained independence because Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown • The Patriots won
