  2. Ionian War • The Ionian Revolt ( 499-493 B.C.) • Led to the Persian War. • Did not occur in Vacuum

  3. First Persian War • (499 -449 B.C.) • Between Achaemenid Empire, also the city states of the Hellenic world. • Collision between political worlds, and the enourmous empire of Persia

  4. Peloponnesian War • (431-404 B.C.) • War fought by Athens and Peloponnesian League led by Sparta. • Sparta launched repeated attacks on Attica, which Athens took advantage with there Navel supremacy.

  5. Archidamion War • (431-421 B.C.) • Between the great Athens and Sparta. • It was named after the Spartan king Archidamus II. • Athenian Victory and Spartan defeat.

  6. Battle of Helorus • (492 B.C.) • Between Hippocrates and the Tyrant of Gela, also the Syracusans • Gela defeat Syracuse

  7. Battle of Himera • (480 B.C.) • Between Syracusans , and Agrigentines • Agrigentines were 557,000 Strong, under Gelon • Tyrant of Syracuseand the Carthagians had only 300,00 men. • Syracuse defeats Carthagians

  8. Battle of Cumae • (474 B.C) • Fought between Fleet of Hiero, Tyrant of Syracuse, also the Etruscan Fleet • Etruscans investing the Greek colony of Cumea, Etruscans were routed to defeat by Syracuse.

  9. Sicilian War • (415-413 B.C) • Tyrants were expelled from Acreages, Himera, and Syracuse • Athens Navy was utterly defeated this proved to be the turning point for the Peloponnesian war

  10. Siege of Syracuse • (415 B.C) • Siege was laid by the city of Athensians • Sparta succeded into getting trough Athenians Lines • This lead to a death blow to Athenians Navel Feelt

  11. Siege of Selinus • (409 B.C.) • Attempt by Syracuse • Nine days of stubborn help, hopelessly outnumbered, and overpowered. • Survivors were captured • Carthagians defeat Sicilian Greeks
