  3. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Definition: Mental health condition that is triggered by a terrify event. Causes: • Neglect • Combat or military exposure • Sexual/Physical Abuse • Terrorist Attacks • Natural Disasters

  4. Symptoms • Pounding of heart or chest pain • Sweating and trembling • Shortness of breath • Sensation of choking • Flashbacks • Nightmares • Serious Accidents • Avoidance of previous activities • Difficulty maintaining close relationships

  5. PTSD Treatment Plan Post-traumatic stress disorder treatment often includes both medication and psychotherapy • Medications (Antidepressants) • Psychotherapy

  6. Facts • More affective in men than women • 2.8 percentage adult 15-54 • PTSD can often lead to alcohol and drug abuse, and domestic violence.
