IMPACT’S ROLE - acts as a catalystto bring together Non Profit Organisations, Corporations and the Community to work in partnership with the Government for sustainable and replicable National Health programmes, - uses existing delivery systems and available infrastructure
PRESENT PROJECTS • Curative: Lifeline Express - the world's first modern hospital on rails. So far served 800,000 disabled rural poor – all free of cost – with donated skills of 150,000 medical volunteers. • Prevention: Community Health Initiative in Maharashtra State, covering 2 million Tribals free of cost.
Community Health Initiative (CHI)Prevention of Disability - a sustainable and replicable model 2005 - 2011 achieved 72% reduction of disability, • population 2 million in 6643 sq. kms in rural Maharashtra, • in partnership with Government. June 2012 onwards Preventive health focus: • in one Primary Health Centre • population: 60,000 in 604 sq kms • health outcomes selected by Government, in line with Millennium Development Goals: - reduction of infant mortality - improvement in maternal health - immunisation - reduction in female adolescent anaemia and - reduction in child malnutrition Aims at Public Private Partnerships for sustainability.
