  2. Aim To evaluate a targeted breastfeeding support service which will increase the prevalence of breastfeeding women at 6 to 8 weeks in a designated area within Bromley.

  4. Over the period of April 2011 to March 2012 the initiative has: • Employed two part time staff on a fixed term contract to work on the project and engaged the services of two agency Breastfeeding Counsellors to cover the breastfeeding support groups. • Commenced calling all mothers who have given birth in the two project areas. • Increased the number of breastfeeding support groups across Bromley from 2 to 6 groups • Commenced a breastfeeding support line for all pregnant and mothers with newborn infants in Bromley residents. • Developed a clear process for referral to Kings College for tongue tie assessment.

  5. Over the period of April 2011 to March 2012 the initiative has: • Been commissioned by Bromley Early Years intervention and prevention services (LBB) to provide monthly antenatal classes on breastfeeding awareness. • The project team has changed its name from Breastfeeding Support Team to Community Infant feeding team. 11 % increase of women breastfeeding at 6 – 8 weeks in Bromley in the last year.
