Criteria Hiring Minimums: • Familiarity with the English language (read and speak) • Knowledge of the area of operation • 21 yrs. of age • Qualify for a sheriff’s card • Classroom training-16 hrs. minimum • Must meet current requirements in MTDB Ordinance No. 11
Eligibility Requirements to Obtain a Taxicab Permit Accountability: • Five years previous driving experience • At least 3 references • Letters of recommendation • May not be current permit holder
Accountability (cont’d.) • Must have a good driving record • No felony convictions for 5 years • Must be in good standing with MTS • Drive a minimum of 175 shifts per year – may lease for remaining
Conclusion • Drivers who represent the city well create their own opportunities. • Long-term drivers in good standing are a benefit to all • After several years of service, good drivers deserve the opportunity to become a permit holder.
