(.15)(125) = 18.75 Subtract the discount from the original price 125 – 18.75 = 106.25 The sales price is $106.25. Discount A discount is when you save money. Sometimes a discount is a flat rate but more often it is a percentage.
James bought a pool stick which was originally priced at $ 75.00 and was on sale for 25% off. What is the sales price of the pool stick? Find 25% of $ 75.00. Reflection There are many different ways that people use percent in their lives. There is really no way to avoid using percent. It is everywhere from shopping, eating, banking and especially credit cards. Percent is part of our lives.
