Markets (1) • Recession (last year) • Few activities in building industry • Large infrastructure projects come to an end • Digital mapping (different scales) nearly ready • Cadastre, public works, municipalities less to spend • Geodetic companies in difficult circumstances • Geo-ICT companies seem to be less affected • Efficiency is approving • Especially less (lower educated) technicians needed Berlin 24 april 2004

  7. Markets (2) • Program: Space for Geo-information • 20 mio Euro • Mainly research (proposals) • Mainly geo-information applications • Institutes, public services, private companies • With a slow start Berlin 24 april 2004

  10. Education (1) • In the past few years: the end of specific geodetic education on technician and “MSc” level (Delft) Just started: • Investigation to the need of geo-information-workers in the coming years, on initiative of the VNBG. Results in next summer. Berlin 24 april 2004
