  3. Lesson 6Overcoming Fear The Bible speaks of two kinds of fear. 1. The fear commanded. Eccl 12:13 , Psalm 2:11. Proverbs 91:10 2. The fear forbidden. Psalm 9:5 Luke 12:32

  4. Where Fear Operates “ Although different types of fears exist , they all boil down to one phobia: the fear of either losing control or being out of control ”. - Dr. Phil

  5. Where Fear Operates Fear of failure: Matt. 25:25 • The one talent man. Assurance from God: Isa.55:11 , Psalm 1:3, 1 Cor. 15:58

  6. Where Fear Operates Fear of the unknown future: This has kept many congregations from expanding ,adding new works. Also, keeps individuals from growing, and using their talents.

  7. Where Fear Operates Fear of responsibility: The one talent man did not assume his responsibility. Matt.25:25 Israel – Deut. 1:22-46 Teaching others – Luke 5:10

  8. Where Fear Operates Fear of others: Peter denied the Lord. Matt. 26:69-75. “ Brings a snare.” Prov. 29:25

  9. Effects Of Fear • Warps a person’s personality. • Prevents a person from doing the will of God. • Makes one useless. • Brings defeat into a person's life.

  10. How To Overcome Fear • Remember fear is prohibited. Deut. 1:21, Isa.44:8 , Psa.91:5 I Peter 3:13-15. “ Fear not” and “be not afraid” appear in the Bible almost 180 times.

  11. How To Overcome Fear 2. Put your faith and trust in God. Prov. 3:25-26, Ps. 56:11 Matt. 8:26 , 2 Tim.1:12 3. You are in the presence of God. Psa.46:1 , Isa. 35:4

  12. How To Overcome Fear 4. Rid yourself of sin. 5. Live one day at a time. Phil. 3:13-14, Matt. 6:34 Most of man’s fears relate to the past or to the future.
