  1. Single Crystal X-ray Diffraction of a New Metal-Organic FrameworkHyunsoo Park and John B. PariseDepartments of Chemistry and GeosciencesSUNY Stony Brook, Stony Brook, NY 11794ChemMatCARS NSF CHE 0087817 The research is aimed at the discovery of new metal-organic hybrid frameworks which can be potentially used as hydrogen storage materials. We have recently characterized the crystal structure of Zn4(C2H2N3)4(C12H4O4)2·2DMF·4H2O using the microcrystallography facility at the ChemMatCARS, synchrotron x-ray facility ath the Advanced Photon Source. This compound is a new 3-dimensional framework. The structure is based on the 2-D layers consisting of 8-membered windows of Zn polyhedra and triazole molecules. Two adjacent Zn-triazole layers are pillared by 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylates to create channels along the [100] direction. Gas sorption experiment showed the framework can store 1.11 wt.% of H2 at 1 atm, 77 K. Reference: H. Park, J. F. Britten, J. Y. Lee, J. Li, U. Müller and J. B.
