Historia • Fue descubierto accidentalemnete en 1938 por Roy Plunkett, un investigador de la empresa DuPont. • Búsqueda de refrigerante en base a TFE. • Polimerización accidental del TFE. • Inicialmente su costo de producción era elevado. • En la Segunda Guerra Mundial su uso se extendió. • Patentado por DuPont en 1944.
