  3. Benefits of Service Learning Increases student involvement in the community. Provides valuable work experience for students Develops and enhances leadership skills. Helps improve ability to collaborate in groups. Makes connections with people who may later help students obtain an internship or job.

  4. Service-Learning Activities • Blazer Build 2011 • Spent 3 hours building a house. I built a “false” wall and removed nails for an improperly built wall. I also helped put the insulation tape around the windows.

  5. I gained… Experience in working with others on a project such as building the house. An appreciation for how much work goes into to something like that. A thankfulness that I already have a home and a sense of pride for having helped an unfortunate family get one too.

  6. Overall… Service Learning is a great activity for all students and really helps them gain new experience. If you have the chance you should definitely participate in a service-learning program.
