  4. Vocabulario introduction: • Hay –There is, there are • Hay diezestudiantes. • ¿Cuántosestudiantes hay? (are there) • Compare: • Hay un libro. Es un libro.

Los números-pg 87 • Write down the numbers in your notes or note cards. • Common mistakes: • diez = 10 • dieciséis=16 (has an accent) • Instead of diez y siete =diecisiete • The number twenty : veinte (veins) • Instead of veinte y uno =veintiuno • 22 & 23 have accents! • Treinta y uno = 31 etc…

  6. ¿Quéhoraes? • Is time feminine or masculine? • What does hora mean? • Use Es la unato say that it is one o’clock: use Son las…. for any other time. • It is 1:00 = Es la una. • It is 5:00 = Son lascinco. • Use y minutes for the number of minutes after the hour (up to 30) • It is 2:10 =Son las dos y diez. • It is 1:20= Es la una y veinte.

La hora • Use menos+ minutes for the number of minutes before the hour. • It is 12:40 = Es la unamenosveinte. • It is 5:50 = Son lasseismenosdiez. • Use y or menoscuartofor a quarter of an hour and y media for half an hour. • It is 12:15 = Son lasdoce y cuarto. • It is 1:45 = Son las dos menoscuarto. • It is 7:30 = Son lassiete y media.

  8. La hora • To say whether it is a.m or p.m you use: • de la mañana • de la tarde • de la noche • To say at what time something happens , use a la(s) • La clase de arte esa la unay la clase de inglésesa las dos.

  16. Regular ar-verbs • Remember there are three types of verbs ____,_____y _____. • In Spanish, the present tense is formed by changing the ending of the verb. • To form the present tense of a regular verb that ends in –ar, drop the –arand add the appropriate ending.
