  2. Voilà is • a health promotion and addiction prevention program focused on children‘s and youth organizations in Switzerland • a network of 16 cantonal programs in 19 cantons • a program of the Swiss National Youth Council (SNYC)

  4. Basic focus • Voilà aims to support children and youth as they develop into healthy adults. • «Health» is understood as holistic well-being. • Goals • Increasing the • mental • physical • and social • well-being of children and youth

Target group • Voilà is aimed at the youth organizations in Switzerland. • The target groups are: • Girls and boys taking part in youth organizations‘ summer camps. • young women and men organizing summer camps as leaders of a youth organization. • young women and men working for Voilà as multipliers (cantonal program leaders).

Yearly plenary meeting: One delegate from each cantonal program Voilà coordination office Training and continuing education section Network section Finances section Voilà in French-speaking Switzerland section Visions section One representative from each cantonal program in each section 16 cantonal Voilà programs in 19 cantons Target group: Summer camps organized by youth organizations such as Pfadi, Blauring/Jungwacht, CEVI etc. (both the youth leading the camps and camp participants 6-16 years old) Steering committee: One representative from each section And the coordination office as moderator of the steering committee

Projects • The projects expand on and substantiate Voilà‘s goals • Project length: 2 years each • Examples: • «Voilà in motion – Nutrition and exercise in children‘s and youth camps» • Project seeking to sensitize leaders to designing a gender-sensitive camp atmosphere and activities • «Mental well-being – self-efficacy 2007/2008» • Skills for communication and achievement – 2009/2010 • Preventing intoxication and promoting risk management skills – 2011/2012

Basic principles • Participation: children, youth and young adults help design activities • Empowerment: Encouraging and empowering children, youth and young adults to tackle challenges and take on responsibility • Leading by example: sensitizing camp leaders to their role as role models • Gender sensitivity: helping children and youth develop a good attitude toward their gender and the opposite gender • Further development: openness for new topics and methods, evaluation and optimization, participatory working methods
