  1. Bloods v. Crips The Notorious Street Battle

  2. CRIPS • A 15 year old Fremont High School student named Raymond Washington started a gang called the Baby Avenues in 1969 in an attempt to be like the older gangs and copy the political activities carried out by other organizations such as the Black Panthers. The gang named itself the Avenue Cribs eventually and took on the nickname Cribs because most members were very young back then. The name Crips was first brought up in L.A. a Los Angeles newspaper in a article about young Cribs with canes, as if they were crippled. A lot of people believe the name came to existence because of a spelling error

  3. CRIPS • Cripsusually wear blue, however, some sets wear purple, grey and baby blue From Lowest To HighestT.G. (Tiny Gangster)B.G. (Baby Gangster)O.G. (Original Gangster)O.O.G. (Double O.G.)O.O.O.G. (Triple O.G.)

  4. BLOODS • The Bloods street gang originated at the Centennial High School from the Piru gang, which took its name from Piru Street in Compton, California.  The Bloods formed to protect members from the Crips, and soon after, other street gangs, with the same motive, started using the names Piru and Bloods to signify their alignment with the main gang.  Although the Bloods street gangs, or sets, are a smaller group than the Crips, they are potentially dangerous, particularly when present in any numbers.

  5. BLOODS • The Bloods typically wear red • Sworn enemies with the Crips • Allies with anyone who considers Crips as enemies

  6. Reasons For Joining Gangs… • Kids in poverty want money, so they sell drugs for the gangs • Kids grow up in the lifestyle and think it is normal • Kids without families join for a sense of being a part of a family • Gang members recruit younger kids into the gangs

  7. The fights • Fights occur when one gang member steps on another gangs territory or grounds. These grounds are areas where the gangs can sell their drugs and make money. • Fights can be just fist fights. But lots of the time, they use firearms and other weapons to kill

  8. Presence Today… • Both gangs are still very evident in the country • Most gang members grow up in the gang culture and believe it is normal and a good way to earn a living
