This report outlines the progress and findings from the LBDS Dry Runs conducted over multiple weeks. Week 7 focused on the testing of BI in XPOC acquisition mode, the running of LBDS equipment from the control room, and a series of programmed dumps and system checks. Future dry runs are planned for weeks 15 and 19, where additional systems and full scenarios will be integrated. Key activities include the verification of permit loops, energy tracking, and preparations for reliability running. Findings from these runs will inform further operational decisions.

LBDS – programmed dump - normally • Energy Tracking System (BETS) receives energy from 4 arcs to define kicker voltage Programmed Dump Beam 1: • FESA command to BIS: unlink permit loops (sequence) • Timing: suppress post mortem beam 1 (sequence) • Timing: “Dump beam 1 event” is sent out (sequence) • Timing system input to the BIS: removes user permit • BIS: Broken permit loop triggers beam dump for beam 1 • Timing: detects broken permit loop → sends out “beam 1 dumped event” (= required for External Post Operational Check XPOC) • Timing: Enable post mortem beam 1 (sequence)
LBDS Dry Run - week 7 • Scenario: • Beam 1 only • Beam dump (beam 1) triggered by timing event (dump event) • The “beam dumped event” is sent out by operations (sequencer – timing table), not automatically by timing • The BI acquisition is triggered by the “beam dumped event” for the XPOC analysis • The energy input for the BETS comes through a BETS simulator, not through the RB DCCTs in 4 arcs • We test: • Control of LBDS equipment from control room (except TSU) • Arming of LBDS through sequencer, LBDS monitoring GUI • Point 6 BI • XPOC acquisition (BI, LBDS), logging, first analysis and report to sequencer

Sequence • We will use the sequencer to run the LBDS system through a “cycle” • Will be used for reliability run afterwards – needs to be ‘operational’ for several months • Sequence (simplified): • Get XPOC result: if OK, carry on, otherwise abort • Go to 450 GeV • ARM LBDS • Start energy ramp • Play timing table with dump event
