  1. Importance of Teaching Manner to Children As society evolves many social norms and beliefs change with it. But what remains unchanged is etiquette and manner. It is important. Equip your children with knowledge of proper etiquette and manner from the beginning and it will do good for them. A well-mannered child is always loved and welcome by everyone. When you sow the seed of manner in your children, within a few days they will grow up in a full-grown well-mannered person. Sometimes we criticize small children for their rude behavior, but, most of the time children cannot understand that they are being impolite as he or she does not have proper knowledge of etiquette and manner. Manners are polite behaviors that reflect an attitude of consideration, kindness, and respect for others. At this time busy parents may not find adequate time to groom their children. So daycare experts suggest that the shortest method to groom your kids is to input some seeds of values,

  2. manners, and etiquette in them. Though teaching good manner is quite a tough job. It is hard to convince these little ones to follow basic manners. In Montessori schools of Sierra Madre, CA, they give stress on basic manners. They help children to adopt those manners. Children are praised in front of classmates when they show good manners in class. Parents, as well as teachers, are also requested to become their role models. Mere lecturing them about good manners is not enough. To convince them give them an explanation of why they need to learn manners and how a well-mannered person gets respect from everyone. Daycare experts suggest few basic demeanors for the children –

  3. •Tell your children to say “Please” when they ask for anything from someone. •Encourage your children to say thank you whenever they get anything or any favor from others. •Tell your children not to interrupt elders when they are busy in conversation with each other. But, if they need elder’s attention due to some emergency, teach them the phrase ‘excuse me’ to penetrate in the conversation. •Before touching other’s products or doing something that may affect others, they should seek permissions from others else they may have to give a long explanation. •Tell your children not to comment in between a conversation when you know nothing about it. •Tell your children to offer help when somebody is performing work. •Tell them before entering any room, never forget to knock on the door and say “may I come in" before entering the classroom. •Children should show respect to elders and love for Youngers. Do not forget to say thank you to the parents of your friends when they invite you to sleep over or dinner. •Teach them to cover their mouth when they cough or sneeze and not to pick their nose in public. If they do those in public, imitate your children’s actions in a silly way in privacy so that they can understand how odd it is for being ill-mannered. But keep one thing in mind your etiquette or manner expectations from a child should be according to their age. You cannot expect a teenager’s demeanor from an infant.
