  6. SAS 8: Add up annular contriutions

  7. New arfgen method: Integrate the PSF image

  8. Integrated PSF image technique

  9. Integrated PSF image technique +10% -10% Flux in inner 9 cols / flux in cols -4 to -2 and +2 to +4

  10. Practical spectral fitting effects Spectrum NH=2.3E+22 Gauss = 6.44 keV 1.04 keV 0.02 Disk_T = 2.26 Bbod_T = 1.06 Tbabs (gauss*diskbb*bbod)

  11. Practical spectral fitting effects Original Spectrum NH=2.3E+22 Gauss = 6.44 keV 1.04 keV Disk_T = 2.26 Bbod_T = 1.06 +10% Ignore Inner 3 cols -10% * Linear ramp NH=2.32E+22 Gauss = 6.42±0.04 1.06±0.04 Disk_T = 2.40±0.09 +15% * Ramp with extra at 6keV NH=2.34E+22 Gauss = 6.55±0.03 0.99±0.04 Disk_T = 2.34±0.09 Ignore Inner 5 cols -10%

  12. MKN 421 simple power-law test Excluding inner 3 columns gives a 15% decrease in measured flux. Slope is stable.

  13. Conclusions • Major problem with ARF in SAS 8 when inner columns are excluded in timing mode observations. • New image integration technique fixes this • Residual problem at 15% level in flux if inner 3 cols excluded • Spectral parameters reasonably consistent so looking acceptable…
