  1. Discover the 18650 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery

  2. What is 18650 Li-ion Rechargeable Battery? • 18650 Li-ion battery finds prominence in electronic applications. A 18650 is a lithium-ion rechargeable battery and is widely called as “18650 cells”. This battery has a voltage of 3.7v and has battery capacity between 1800mAh and 3500mAh. • Two types of Li-ion batteries are available in the market, one is protected and the other is unprotected. On an average, the 18650 battery takes around 4 hours to charge. There might be a variation in charge time depending upon the charging voltage and the type of battery used.

  3. What is the difference between Protected v/s Unprotected 18650 Batteries? • In the protected 18650 battery there is a safety electronic circuit which prevents from high voltage or short circuit. As it is protected from current variations it is safer to use. • The unprotected 18650 battery does not have this circuit to protect the battery from fluctuating current and should be used only when there is a controlled current supply. They are cheaper but very riskier. Battery disposal should be done properly through a proper outlet. • The 18650 batteries more power for its size and have a great capacity to run any type of instruments if properly connected. Rechargeable times are limited like any other battery as its chemical contents get depleted during every recharge.

  4. What are the applications of a 18650 rechargeable battery? • They find various applications like lights, Vaping, electronic goods and electrical vehicles. Laptop batteries are made up of 18650 cells and are recharged multiple times. • Many of today’s electric cars use 18650 Li-ion batteries to run their cars. They occupy less space in an electric vehicle and as a rechargeable battery it finds lots of applications. While selecting a rechargeable battery, look for a battery which gives high voltage and amperage and avoid batteries which do not provide them. As like the battery you should also have a quality recharger to protect the battery from the power fluctuations. • India is entering the era of battery cars and many Li-ion battery manufacturers have started increasing the production capacity to meet the future demand of these batteries. More than a dozen of Li-ion cell manufacturers in India are gearing up for the demand.

  5. The government is providing various incentives to increase the usage of battery cars in the near future. The Li-ion battery manufacturers and in particular the 18650 Cell manufacturers are expecting a boom in their business in the coming years. Li-ion cells come in various shapes and sizes and 18650 rechargeable batteries in the cylindrical shape are used by some of the upcoming electric car manufacturers in the USA. • The 18650 Li-ion has come to stay and because of its various uses and cheaper rates, common people, as well as many manufacturers prefer this rechargeable battery over others.
