Security • HFIR/REDC • Gated entrance • Prox card scanners • Log book • Cameras focused on spent fuel area • Follow NRC guidelines for transport between HFIR and REDC • Safeguards Laboratory • Prox card scanners • Limited access to source cage • Graphite Reactor • Barb wire fence guarding 233U stockpile • No scanner for building • Tours common

  4. Inspection • HFIR/REDC • Periodic shut down for reactor maintenance/inspection/refueling • Safeguards Laboratory • Detectors/Imaging for inspection • Graphite Reactor • Not operated anymore…no inspection

Material Control and Accountability (MC&A) • HFIR/REDC • Non-destructive analysis of material samples using Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) for forensics • Safeguards Laboratory • Detectors/Imaging equipment for NDA and holdup determination • Graphite Reactor • Old control room for material balances • Not operated anymore…No MC&A
