  2. Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ.Although the countries of the whole world officially celebrate the Christmas occasion on 25th of December as on the Western calendar but in Moldova Christmas is often celebrated on January 7 as on the Eastern Orthodox calendar.

  3. Decorations Usually, we decorate the Christmas tree with globes of different colors, tinsel, lights, bows and put a star on top. Our city is decorated with many lights and the trees too.

  4. Carols The singing of carols is a very important part of Christmas festivities. Throughout the Christmas season, little children (especially those in the villages) visit every house in the locality singing carols such as Steaua ('The Star'), Trei Pastori ('The Three Shepherds') and Mos Craciun ('Santa Claus '). Children are rewarded for carols sung. While urban children receive expensive gifts and money, those in the villages have to settle with sweets, fruit, nuts, and pastries as Christmas gifts.

On the night of 6 to 7, Santa is sneaking into the house and put presents under the tree for the good children. In the morning they find presents and unfold to see what they have received.
