  2. INTRODUCTION • When computer and communication technologies are combined, the result is information technology. • Information technology is any technology that helps to produce, manipulate, store and communicate.

  3. HISTORY OF COMPUTER • Came to Pakistan in mid- 60s. • Now there are 1800 mainframes and minicomputers used in Pakistan. • The growth in the number of computers during the last ten years was over 35%.

  4. HISTORY OF INTERNET • The first recorded description of the social interactions that could be enabled through networking was a series of memos written by J.C.R. Lickliderin August 1962 discussing his "Galactic Network" concept. • Licklider was the first head of the computer research program starting in October 1962.

  5. CONTINUE… • In late 1966 Roberts went to DARPA to develop the computer network concept and quickly put together his plan for the "ARPANET", publishing it in 1967. • Computers were added quickly to the ARPANET during the following years.

  6. USES OF INTERNET • Internet is today one of the most important part of our daily life. • There are large numbers of things that can be done using the internet and so it is very important. • Today internet is used for different purposes depending upon the requirement:

  8. ISSUES WITH THE INTERNET • Offensive material • Inaccurate information • Biased information • Information overload • Addiction • Time wastage

FUTURE OF INTERNET • Internet is 40 years old. • The world is running out of the web addresses. • According to a survey in 2013: A total of 1,100 respondents filled out the survey.The majority of respondents (94%) are from urban areas, led by Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad. Over 90% of respondents often use the internet at home, as compared to often outside (16%) and often at work (52%).Laptops are the most used device (81% of total respondents) to connect to the internet.

  10. CONTINUE… • From the statistics we got to know that the users of the internet are wide in range. • In 2013 the survey was done. • Later the future seems to be increasing use of the internet, more in urban areas.

CONCLUSION • Internet was introduced in 60s. • It is now 40 years old. • It has become one of the basics of life for the people throughout the world, not only in Pakistan. • It has advantages and disadvantages both. • The future of internet is very bright, it will be flourished more and its use will be increased in later years.
