Oz County Board of Education members are expected to consider a change in the current drug and alcohol policy in the county school system during their meeting planned for 5 p.m. today at the Emerald Tower building. If approved on second reading, this change in policy will allow principals to administer drug tests to students whom they have good reason to suspect are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  14. Dorothy Gale, 36, 1234 Kansas Way, Apt. 3G, was arrested following her indictment by an Oz County grand jury. She is accused of purchasing tablets that contained pseudoephedrine on seven occasions on April 25, July 30, Oct. 6, Oct. 15, Nov. 3, Nov. 10 and Nov. 23.

  15. “The grant fund from the Hull-York Lakeland RD&D (HYL RC&D) will supplement the matching funds counties are required to provide under EWP,” said Phillip Dixon, NRCS District Conservationist in Clay and Jackson County. “EWP will assist these counties in repairing infrastructure and performing debris removal in creeks and waterways. Removing debris along the creeks and waterways will prevent the debris from clogging bridges during the next heavy rain.”

Sparks debuts new spot for Hometown Farmer's Market The annual Hometowne Farmer’s Market kicked off for the summer on Thursday evening in Sparks with a new location and setup the city hopes will emphasize a family atmosphere. About 80 vendors set up in Victorian Square Plaza in front of the downtown's movie theaters, a spot that's a few blocks west of the market's longtime spot in previous years, along Victorian Avenue closer to Pyramid Way.
