  2. Russian Futurism was a movement of literature and the visual arts. Visual artists ie. painters found inspiration in the imagery of Futurist writings and were poets themselves. Poets and painters often collaborated on theatre productions such as operas.

  5. The main style of painting was Cubo-Futurism, adopted in 1913 when AristarkhLentulov returned from Paris and exhibited his paintings in Moscow. Cubo-Futurism combines the forms of Cubism with the representation of movement. Like their Italian predecessors the Russian Futurists were fascinated with dynamism, speed and the restlessness of modern urban life.

  10. Members of Hylaeaelaborated the doctrine of Cubo-Futurism. They found significance in the shape of letters, in the arrangement of text around the page, in the details of typography. They considered that there is not any substantial difference between words and material items, hence the poet should arrange words in his poems like the artist arranges colors and lines on his canvas. Grammar, syntax, and logic were often discarded; many neologisms and profane words were introduced; onomatopoeia was declared a universal texture of verse.
