  4. Strategic Context As a result of the investment in the service, NHS Direct Online will offer the public a web-based personal health organiser by the end of 2003 - My NHS HealthSpace

  5. What is it? My NHS HealthSpace is an electronic record held by NHS Online in a secure place on the Internet.

  6. What’s in it? • My NHS HealthSpace contains: • personal health status • health appointments • current medication • SMS & email reminders • health related news and information • future secure gateway to NHS records

  7. Designed for Users • Users can enter as much / little personal information as they like into their own HealthSpace. • The service is designed so that users can tailor their HealthSpace to their specific needs. • The service can be used with complete anonymity.

Why use HealthSpace? • Get the information you want, in the format you want • Be better informed & less anxious with NHS health professionals • Record your health care wishes & alert health professionals to them • NHS health professionals will contact you – discretely, safely & securely • Remember appointments & when to take pills – HealthSpace reminds you • Access whatever you want, whenever you want, for as long as you want • End result: HealthSpace puts you more in control of your own health care

  30. Next Steps for HealthSpace? • Deliver standalone My NHS HealthSpace to NHS Direct Online users by December 2003 • Work within National Programme for IT to deliver the secure patient portal to NHS electronic records by December 2004
