Lancaster City:Portfolio Strength • Our arts portfolio is strong because of its diversity and critical mass. • Like any investment portfolio, there are stars, steady performers and occasional missteps. • Examining progress over a 10-year history, the arts have produced excellent results… and future prospects are exciting!

New Audiences = sustainability • The arts in Lancaster continue to attract first-time visitors, i.e., ‘new blood.’ • 28% of Lancaster residents encourage friends and family from outside the County to visit Lancaster’s arts and cultural sites. • 20% reported those friends and family actually visited Lancaster City.

  19. The Arts and Economic Flows • One third of adult county residents (127,400) visit downtown because of the arts. • Average number of arts-related visits = 7/yr • Those residents spend over $36 MM in the downtown area in connection with arts-related visits. • Shopping, restaurants, parking

ENTWINED and INTER-RELATED:The Arts & Lancaster’s Economy • Total economic footprint of the arts = $72MM of economic flows and nearly 1,100 jobs. • Downtown arts spending accounts for 730+ County jobs. • Nonprofit arts and culture organizations spending accounts for 350+ jobs. • If the arts went away, the ripple effect would be much greater. Figures include direct + indirect spending based on US Dept of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis Regional Input-Output Modeling System
