  2. What is zotero? • Open source software that runs in your browser. • You create your own personal database of sources as you browse online catalogs, databases, and Web sites.

  3. How does zotero do this? • zoterocan “sense” items on currently viewed Web pages: • Books , journal articles , Web sites , audio files , etc. • Folder lets you select items you want from your results lists.

  4. What can you do with zotero? • Organize information in files. • Highlight and annotate documents. • Cross reference and tag related materials. • Insert notes & bibliographies in Word. • Share a database that’s stored on a network drive. • Export citations to other citation managers.

  6. Getting started • One of these browsers must be used: • Firefox 2.0 or higher • Netscape 9.0 • Flock 0.9.1 • Download Zotero from: http://www.zotero.org/

  18. Creating Citations and a Bibliography • Download zotero’s Microsoft Word plug-in http://www.zotero.org/documentation/microsoft_word_integration • A new row of icons for creating will be added to your Microsoft toolbar.
