  1. Most Common Tips to Clear Blocked Drainage The warning signs are showing: sink takes longer to drain, water is pooling around your bathroom floor when you shower, strange, unpleasant odors from your kitchen and bathroom. Those are all the signs of having a clogged drainage system. Then, one day, your drain is completely blocked! This is something that must be dealt with quickly. Otherwise, your pipe can just snap or burst and you have a useless bathroom. 10 Tips To Clear Blocked Drainage So nothing happens when you removed the gunk and excess hair that’s built up the surface of the drain. You tried using liquid plumber and plunger, but no good. Don’t lose hope. Before contacting that expensive emergency plumber, here are the 10 most common tips and tricks to clear blocked drainage. 1.Bent Wire Hanger This sounds simple but it is surprisingly effective. As best as you can, straighten your regular wire coat hanger. Then, create a small hook by bending one end over. Then, start fishing by pushing it past the drain cover. That way, you will be able to get all sorts of nasty junk and hair out of the drain. The goal here is to pull all the gunk out, and not pushing it further. After getting as much junk as you can, run the hot water so it clears things up nicely. https://mrdrains.co.uk/

  2. 2.Vinegar & Baking Soda This is a very common method of clearing blocked drainage. In a measuring cup, mix 1/3rd cup of baking soda with 1/3rd cup of vinegar. These two will fizz immediately and you wouldn’t be wasting any time pouring it down the clogged drain. Further, this mixture and fizzing action helps remove the hair, grime, and gunk that has built up in the pipe. Then, let it sit down for an hour or overnight if possible. After that, flush it with hot water. Another way of doing this method is by putting as much dry baking soda down the drain before pouring in the vinegar. 3.Wet & Dry Vacuum Another great tool to unclog drains is by using a wet & dry shop vacuum. The first thing to do is to set it to vacuum liquids and covering up the vent to prevent a mess. Next is to create the tightest seal possible over the drain. You can get creative with this, such as adapting an old plunger head for this purpose. Turn the vacuum on its highest setting so it is powerful enough to draw the clog up the pipe and into the vacuum bag. Although it doesn’t always work, it is worth the shot. https://mrdrains.co.uk/

  3. 4.Boiling Water Here’s another easy way to deal with this. Boil up as much water as you can with the kettle. If you don’t have one, you may use a stove or microwave to boil water. Then, pour the boiling water down the drain in two to three rounds, allowing as much hot water to work for a few seconds in between each pour. This trick is usually the quickest and easiest way to unclog drains. If there’s any hot water left, make yourself a cup of coffee or tea. 5.Caustic Soda In this method, you will need some rubber gloves and eye protection. Sodium Hydroxide, or Caustic soda may cause nasty chemical burns. You may buy these from your local hardware store, but you must use caution when handling it. In a mop bucket, pour ¾ gallons of cold water and add three cups of caustic or corrosive soda. Mix them well with an old wooden spoon. This will start to fizz and heat up. Then, pour it into the blocked drainage and leave it for 20-30 minutes. Lastly, flush the drain with boiling water. You may repeat this process if necessary. https://mrdrains.co.uk/

  4. 6.Cleaning the Pipe This job is easy and doesn’t require you to ask help from plumbers. Put an empty bucket underneath the U-shaped pipe below the sink. That bucket will be used to collect the water and junk that will spill. Take a plumber’s wrench, loosen the slip nuts at both ends of the pipe. You can do this operation by hand. After freeing the trap, remove it and turn it upside down, emptying all contents into the bucket. You may also fish around inside it for debris if necessary. Do the same job for the pipes that were holding it. You can also use an old toothbrush to get tough junk out. Then, rinse the traip with water and put it all back together. This will usually do the trick. 7.Drain Snake This piece of equipment is fairly low-tech and works wonders to blocked drainage. Basically, it is a long flexible metal rope with a spiral metal at the end. https://mrdrains.co.uk/

  5. 8.Baking Soda and Salt Similar with the vinegar and baking soda trick, just mix ½ cup of table salt with ½ cup of baking soda and pour them down the blocked drain. Leave this on for 10-20 minutes. While that settles, boil water and pour it down the drain. The baking soda, salt, and boiling water will generate a chemical reaction that dissolves some or most of the nastiest blockages. 9.Dish Detergent This trick works best in a clogged toilet. Just pour ¼ cup of dish detergent in the bowl, while boiling some water on the side. The dish detergent will act as a lubricant and aid in breaking up any greasy residue. Next, pour hot water down and start plunging. In the event that the plunger doesn’t work, rubber gloves are your next option. https://mrdrains.co.uk/

  6. 10.Vinegar, Baking Soda, Gravity, and Pressure If you have a clogged bath drain, mix up some vinegar and baking soda such as mentioned above. Pour them down the drain, and place a stopper over it. Then, fill the bathtub with water after 45-60 minutes. After that, remove the stopper. The 40-50 gallons of water will create pressure that should be enough to dislodge the blockage that’s been loosened by the vinegar and baking soda mixture. You may also try the drain snake or plunging in conjunction with the weight of the water. Bottom Line So those are the 10 easy and quick tips to help you deal with the most stubborn blocked drainages. Keep in mind these easy and economical tips. You won’t need to call a plumber to deal with these issues. Otherwise, if none of those methods work, you may call the plumber as a last resort. https://mrdrains.co.uk/
