Static Protection Security Breaches • Investigations were conducted in each security breach and corrective measures instituted where applicable in terms of SAPS Disciplinary Regulations against relevant members; re: * Corrective Counseling: 2 members * Final Written Warning: 2 members * Regulation 12 investigations: 4 members - cases still pending 2 members - cases withdrawn • Criminal cases were investigated and closed as undetected. • In addition to daily briefing conducted during parades and visiting of static protectors by Commanders during shifts, additional steps taken to prevent similar occurrences include conducting workshops and in-service training.

Explanation • There was a decrease in seizures and arrest for all crimes during the period 2009/2010 to 2010/2011 due to new recruits deployed at Ports of Entry which ensured a high level of visibility which served as a deterrent to criminals and the intensified International and Regional Cooperation of Law Enforcement Agencies, which makes it difficult and high risk for criminals to move across common borders.
