Due to the essence of this machine is saving lives, several laws have been enacted to save more lives. For instance, the AEDs requirement in big establishments like parks, fitness centers, and schools. This is the best way to ensure that the machine is present at all times. However, AEDs are battery operated and require maintenance and care to prevent chances of failure and risk of malfunctions. Having an AED Tracking and Data Management is the first step in saving more lives, but there are specific steps that one should take to ensure that the machine function efficiently. The first step is performing a regular self-check of its circuit and battery to verify that the internals is working efficiently and that the battery has enough charge to shock the patient. In case the device has issues, it will indicate will a beeping sound or chirping showing that it requires inspection. The second step is checking the expiration dates of the pads and battery. These components generally have a lifespan of 2 to 5 years. The cells are made of lithium-ion, which not work effectively after a few years. The pads also have to be replaced when the particular adhesive used to connect to the patient fails to detect the heart rhythm of the patient. Last but not least, you should confirm with the manufactures in case of any recalls. This is mainly because these devices are regulated by the FDA, which may recall these units from time to time. Some of the typical recalls involve the firmware of the invention. This is cases where the firmware needs updates. AED Management systemsare sophisticated devices; that's why they require regular inspection to ensure they work at all times. The device should also be built into your company's standard operating procedures at minimum quarterly reviews. After every examination, the results should be documented to provide the users with a clue of the device. These few steps are highly essential to sure our defibrillator is maintained and ready for use. AED - The Survival Rate Enhancer The heart is an electrical pump, and you will never know when a complication may arise. But if it happens, the AED is the best first aid treatment.
