The Youth in Iceland 2000 survey • Collection of data conducted in April 2000 • The study covered all adolescents in 8th-10th grades in all junior secondary schools in Iceland • Execution and data processing handled by the Center for Social Research and Analysis • Questionnaires were in Icelandic and may have excluded those who did not speak Icelandic well enough to participate.

  3. General statistical information • 6250 valid responses were obtained, 3048 boys and 3202 girls. 434, 236 boys and 198 girls, had a foreign mother tongue, 7% of the population. • 324 (76%) of those with a foreign mother tongue were raised in Iceland. • 101 (24%) of those with a foreign mother tongue were raised abroad.
