  4. Military • Tried to enlist in the army but turned down • Accepted at Canadian Royal Air Force

  5. His Writings • Wrote-psychological drama and emotional depth • Suffered the envy and scorn of others • Perhaps considered to be the only true American modernist fiction writer of the 1930’s

  6. His Work • The Sound and the Fury (1929) • As I Lay Dying (1930) • Light in August (1932) • The Unvanquished (1938) • Absalom, Absalom! (1936) • Short story- A Rose for Emily

  7. Acceptance Speech • Faulkner reading his acceptance speech for the Noble Prize in 1950

  8. Movies • He wouldn’t agree with movies such as The Notebook because he’s not the type of guy that would like sappy movies. • He would like many of the war movies today because he was involved in the war. Such as; Jarhead, and Pearl Harbor
