  1. Siblings Foe-ever? The relationship between a sister and a brother is a very sacred one which is shared globally. However, a healthy siblings’ rivalry is a must in most families across the world especially when it is a brother-sister relationship. “She started it!” “No, he started it!” And it never seems to end. But in the middle of all the leg pulling and annoyance there is a great deal of love and affection shared among them. A mutual understanding which is eternal. This relationship is something which deserves to be formally celebrated and

  2. enjoyed. In many of the South Asian countries among people who religiously follow the practices and preaching of Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism and Buddhism, the festival of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in which the sister is supposed to tie a Rakhi (a well decorated band made out of strings, sort of a bracelet) on their brother’s wrist and in doing so tightens the bond shared by the siblings. In today’s everchanging fast-paced world, this dicey relationship we share with our “forever foe” requires our righteous attention. As we grow up our careers and lives take their own route and so, it is not very uncommon, that we don’t get to meet our beloved sibling very often or even connect with them as much. In some situations, people grow apart. But it’s those traditional ceremonies such as the auspicious occasion of Rakhi that we get reminded of them and we yearn to spend the day with them as we always did before we became adults and life happened to us! This one day of the year becomes very special and every brother/sister tends to become thoughtful and courteous towards the other. To keep that bond alive in this tech friendly 21st century, at least virtually, many people are adapting to modern methods and now seem to send Rakhi online to someone who is miles away from them in some foreign country. It is this mutual understanding and care for each other, shared across all boundaries, race, beliefs, faith, customs, physical boundaries and technological complications, that brings a smile to our faces.
