  1. The Story of Raksha Bandhan- Confluence of Myth and History Raksha Bandhan, as the name suggests, is a festival to solidify the bond shared between brothers and sisters by tying a thread called Rakhi around the hands of brothers by their sisters. The story of Raksha Bandhan has evolved over the years, but the concurrent theme of this festival remains the same - commemorating the sacred relationship between siblings.

  2. Most of the people of this modern generation consider this festival as something to cherish for that particular day without knowing its significance. They might search how to get designer rakhi delivery online in search engines as it facilitates the effort. So, the significance of this festival, in the future, will be embedded in the mind of our future generation if they are made aware of the origin of this festival. 1. Draupadi and Krishna Many believe that Mahabharata saw the genesis of this festival for the first time when Draupadi, upon seeing Krishna's wound, tore a part of her saree and wrapped it around the finger. In the future, Krishna also walked-the-talk when he saved Draupadi from the hands of Kauravas. So, Raksha Bandhan suggests that promises are meant to be kept. 2. Yama and Yamuna Though the relationship between Yama and Yamuna as a brother and sister is cherished mainly in the festival of Bhai Duj, their story of Rakhi celebration goes thus - when Ganga reminded Yama about her sister Yamuna, Yama decided to call her. Yamuna went there and tied a rakhi around the hands of her brother. When asked for a return gift, Yamuna was given eternity by her brother. From that day onwards, the Yamuna, the second largest tributary of Ganga, started flowing eternally.
