Capital Punishment in Korea • 23 condemned criminals were sentenced to death in December 30, 1997, which was the last death sentence in South Korea until now. • There has been no capital punishment taking place since the year 1997 when President Kim DaeJoong came to power. • Amnesty International now classifies South Korea as an abolitionist country in practice. My definition of Capital Punishment • The legally authorized killing of a condemned criminal as retribution. • Therefore, a death sentenced criminal must be put to death as the corresponding retribution according to the law. • On the other hand, “Sanctity of Life” still comes to the question WOK-Language&Reason

  7. Family members of the victims are furious about this and do not consider murderers as humans. • However, they are criticized for being only emotional. WOK-Emotion

  12. Answer to the Knowledge Issue will depend on which perspective people take.

  13. Capital punishment cannot be justified to any extent. However, the family members of the victims must be taken care of as well as the criminals. Knower’s perspective

  14. However, I have experienced neither what it’s like to be a family member of a victim acquaintance nor the feeling of being a murderer. • Thus, my perspective only relies on secondary information. Limitations
