  4. Language The language of Jamaica differs from English, although, it holds a mix of English and other familiar languages. It is a mix of Spanish and English, many people aren’t able to understand the Jamaican official Creole, or in Jamaican Patois.

  5. Religion The official Predominant religion is Christianity. There are many other religions such as Roman Catholic, Hindus, Muslim, Jews, Bahis, and Rastafarian. They believe that god revealed his words by inspiration of Holy Spirit. Rastafarian are Semi Christian. The Rastafarian reported discrimination in school and at work.

Custom Traditions Gifts are given on/in/to : meeting of business Weddings, Christmas, Birthday gifts, Ill people Holidays: New Years, Maroon Festival, Easter, Accompong There are many sports clubs such as the Half Moon golf club. Many schools started offering swimming and cricket and many other sports.

  7. Economy Jamaica’s economy has many challenges with corruption, high crime, and unemployment. They are in public debt and a lot of it, besides that they have many job losses. The currency of Jamaica is the Jamaican dollar. U.S. dollars are accepted but there are also money exchange machines.

  8. Education and Arts/Music It costs about $350 a year to send a child to school, they require uniforms, many schools are very strict and restrict many other items such as jewelry. Boys and girls are taught together and they do have special schools for disabled kids. Music is influenced by Religion and Folklore. DJ’s would load the back of their trucks and set up a performance in a blocked street.

  9. Political systems Jamaica is an independent state, it has a parliamentary democracy. Jamaica is a member of the British Common Wealth of Nations. It suffers Universal Adult Suffrage.
