KodyDenues Wearable Technology Blogs have become an important genre in the realm of technology. They are windows into the minds of consumers, analysts, and professionals. “Industry pundits have been predicting the death of the personal computer.”1 Reality is presenting quite the contrary. Technology is appearing on us and becoming more personal. That is the argument in Dave Evans’ blog and it is supported by examples of personal technology. Technology Bring Us Together From this perspective, the SIGMO technology is the premier example. Being able to translate 25 languages, this technology is truly able to bring people from foreign countries together. Communication barriers are soon to be yesterday’s news. Technology Is Destructive There is always the negative view of technology. From this perspective one may claim that SIGMO is hurting the cultural aspect of learning a language. With this technology, we bring about the obsoleting of expanding our diversity. Technology In Moderation This is the perspective of the apathetic. software developer Kevin Sloan says, “we can think rationally about the effect these tools are having on ourselves and our society, and choose which ones are truly important.”4 SIGMO is one of these tools.
