The Alternate Education Program at École Alpha provides a flexible pathway for students to work towards obtaining the Dogwood Certificate while maintaining their connection with school. Students are expected to attend classes at a 90% participation rate, work independently, and complete one course every six weeks. The referral process involves a counselor or administrator's recommendation, followed by an intake meeting with the student and their parent or guardian. Students can earn credits for up to 16 required courses, with additional credits available through electives, work experience, or special programs.

Purpose • provide a pathway for students to work towards obtaining the Dogwood Certificate • maintain students’ connection with their school
EXPECTATIONS • attend at a rate of 90% • work independently • complete one course every 6 weeks
Referral Process • referred by a counselor or Administrator through a Resource Team meeting
Intake Process • the Alternate Education teacher will contact the parent/guardian for an intake meeting • Both student and parent are expected to attend the intake meeting prior to the student attending classes.
Courses • student will be able to obtain credits for 16 of the 20 required courses • remaining 4 course credits must be obtained through electives • work experience (WEx12) • an ACE-IT program or SSA • arranged through Career Prep staff
