  3. A healthier and more active lifestyle reduces the incidence of preventable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension which reduces the health bill for a country, increase productivity and stimulates personal, national and regional development in all spheres 1. Health and Fitness

  4. Sport builds socialisation skills, mental skills and motor skills; provides an avenue for alleviating aggressiveness, aimlessness, substance abuse and crime. It also builds discipline, bridges barriers between groups in the society and develops the all round individual. Social Benefits

Local tertiary institutions such as UTT and UWI have also been offering sports scholarships not only for athletes but to study courses that would qualify one for coaching, refereeing, and administrating in international institutions such as FIFA and the Olympic Commission.
