Strategic Conservation Initiatives for Freshwater Fish Species in Western US

The D.F.H.P. strategic plan, finalized in 2008, was accepted as a partner in 2009, leading to two funded projects in Utah. This initiative focuses on critical fish species across 11 Western states including the Lower and Upper Colorado River basins. Key species targeted include the Flannelmouth sucker, Bluehead sucker, Roundtail chub, and Colorado pikeminnow, numbering 179 SGCN. The Myton Diversion Fish Passage Project aims to restore connectivity and allow fish movement with a budget of $350,000, leveraging partnerships with FWS, Ute Indian Tribe, UDWR, and BOR.
