Create Unique Collagraph Prints: Final Projects and Techniques

Don't forget! Report cards are due tomorrow, and paintings are due Wednesday. For credit, turn in your written statement; otherwise, you'll receive a big fat zero! This week, focus on collagraph prints using various textures like tissue and Japanese paper, as well as everyday materials such as string, fabric, and rubber bands. Experiment with different techniques, creating four unique blocks—dimensions between 6” and 10”. Each must have amazing compositions, and you'll print each one by hand and using a press. Aim for an edition of 5 and an experimental larger print combining layers and colors.

  1. Report cards due tomorrow.

  2. Paintings due Wednesday. Take hom paint! Power: TURN IN WRITTEN STATEMENT IF YOU WANT CREDIT. OTHERWISE YOU GET A BIG FAT ZERO. 0!

  3. Collagraph prints Collage board with a bunch of cool textured stuff glued on. Printed like relief (linoleum/woodcut) print.

  5. Textures: Different types of paper and cardboard.
Tissue paper, crepe paper and japanese paper. Ripped, cut, glue.. 
Any small/short that can be glued to the plate.
Either pressed into glue/paint to create an offprint texture Acrylic paints and acrylic textures. Glosspaint and varnish.
Different brush strokes will create a variation of texture. Also palette knifes and sponges can be used.Other interesting materials can be string, tread, fabric, leafs, peas, rice and maskingtape, rubberbands, sandpaper, saran wrap, twine, lace, burlap, buttons

  6. Make four blocks, you pick dimensions between 6” and 10” • All have amazing compositions • Print each (both hand and press) • Edition of 5 of one • 1 experimental larger print combining, layering different block prints with different colors on 18x24 sheet, drawing/ painting into it before/afterwards to create 1 unified crazy awesome composition
