  2. Chapter 1: In the beginning…. • I was a “weather weenie” in suburban NJ

  3. Chapter 2: High School • I decided I wanted to study meteorology • “When am I going to see you on the Weather Channel?” • “Ohhhh so you’ll be behind the scenes”

  4. Chapter 3: Undergraduate • Enrolled in Rutgers Meteorology Programin the Fall of 2003 • Dragged myself through math, chemistry, and physics • First real meteorology courses in Junior year

  5. Junior Year (2005-2006) • Fall Junior year I was a volunteer at NWS in Mount Holly, NJ. Not me I was super excited to see how the pros live…and hang out with other weather weenies!

  6. NWS-Not the life I wanted to live… • Started thinking about graduate school, but not about science so much • Summer 2006 attended ULW • Opened my eyes to climate science and got me really excited about being in research • (I also met my wife there) • Applied for grad school fall 2006 • Got into Rutgers with funding…enrolled in Ph.D. program in Atmospheric Science

  7. Chapter 4: Graduate School • Took classes, worked as a TA for synoptic and mesoscale meteorology • Prepared for and passed qualifying exam • Year 3, prepared my dissertation proposal and helped write a successful DOE grant to fund my research

  8. Chapter 5: ABD • I started doing research full time • Presenting at conferences • Wrote my first journal article that was accepted in March • Now I’m preparing to defend my thesis in September and….

  9. Chapter 6: The Future • Going to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab. as a California Institute of Technology post-doctoral fellow in the fall
