  2. Origin • Soccer originated in many parts of the world, appearing in Ancient Rome and Greece as a game of frolic, in China around 2nd century AD, where they kicked leather balls into a net; However, the modern game we play today is an English spin off rugby.

  3. Rules • Soccer had been played in England for over 500 years before the first real set of official rules made in the 1880’s. However, there are many other derivative of these rules called codes, there are Australian, Canadian, Gaelic, and many other soccer codes. “Association Football” code is the one used in FIFA.

  4. National Sport • Haiti, Italy, and Columbia hold soccer as the national sport, there are a few other countries but I cannot find them.

  5. Why is soccer so popular • Football is such a popular sport all around the world, I think so because it is: • A chance for friends to play together, and enjoy a great game, and have a laugh • It is a widely cherished and fun to watch and play, and the ever-growing popularity of FIFA is influencing popularity on people • Its great physical fitness, and fun

  6. Soccer Variations • Like I said, there are different ‘codes’ in soccer, in different countries, different codes are applied, hence the playing style and rules will be slightly different.
