  2. Activity 1 - Song • “What a wonderful world” • Listen to the song and put the words in the order you hear them. • The second time you hear the song check what you have done. Look at the lyrics in front of you.

  3. I see trees of green........ red roses tooI see em bloom..... for me and for youAnd I think to myself.... what a wonderful world.I see skies of blue..... clouds of whiteBright blessed days....dark sacred nightsAnd I think to myself .....what a wonderful world.

What a wonderful world • The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty ..in the skyAre also on the faces.....of people ..going byI see friends shaking hands.....sayin.. how do you doThey're really sayin......i love you.I hearbabies cry...... I watch them growThey'll learn much more.....than I'll never knowAnd I think to myself .....what a wonderful world

  6. Activity 2 – Chain game • In front of you there is a list of common English vocabulary of everyday speech. Let’s go through the words and check their meanings. You may take notes. • Choose a word. • Next person chooses another word and repeats the first one. If he/she can’t remember the word, the first person has to mime it. • e.g. brolly, brolly-daft, brolly-daft- chilly

Word list • CHILLY – cold • A BIKKIE-biscuit • LOUSY- very bad • WELLIES- rubber boots • A SWOT-a person, who studies hard • A BROLLY- umbrella • NAUGHTY- mischievous • BRAINY- smart • DAFT- silly • PREZZY- present • STUFFY –not fresh air • CIGGIES- cigarettes • TIDDLY- very small • TIPSY- a little bit drunk • A BARBIE- a barbecue • THINGUMMY- smth. unspecified, whose name is forgotten or not known • A MOZZIE- a mosquito • COMFY- comfortable • FILTHY - dirty • A CHICKEN- a coward

Activity 3- Phrasal expressions • Work in pairs. • Take out a blank sheet of paper where you’ll have to draw the words which are on the sheet in front of you. • Your partner has to do the same. • Take turns. • When you are ready, you have to fill these words in the gaps below to make phrasal expressions. Do it together with your partner.

  17. Complete the sentences with an appropriate word • John Horlits. That name rings a bell. Now why do I know that name • A: What do you mean I should have known he was stealing from my shop? B: Well you work in the shop and it was happening under your nose. I don’t understand how you couldn’t have known.

  23. Activity 4- Dialogues • Make dialogues using 3 phrases from the list • You can be either friends, or husband and wife, or lovers. The purpose is to use at least 3 phrases from the list in your dialogue.

  24. Conclusion • All these activities can be used in the classroom to make your lesson more interesting and attractive. The SONG activity is a listening comprehension task. • The Chain game is about learning new vocabulary. • The Phrases are helpful for learning idiomatic expressions. • The Dialogue is a speaking activity.
