  1. An-Najah National University Faculty of Engineering Civil Engineering Department COST STUDY FOR TWO BEDS TO THE SAME PROJECT (construction main transmission pipeline project for Anabta village Prepared by: HazimHamd-Allah AbdallahMizyed Supervisor : E. BarraqJumaa 2012

  2. Hypothesis of Graduating project 2: • compare between two bids for the same project: • ** the first one is estimation equal to 1.548.600 ILS, • ** the second is estimation equal to 1.804.600 ILS.

  3. Anabta It’s a Palestinian city is considered one of the largest cities of Tulkarem, a town divided into two parts: **the old town which is located in the center and houses built by 150-100 years, the population of the old town 2000 people, **The rest of the areas some are built from 50-70 years and the other newly built during the last twenty years, and the town has a population of 7000 new people. **The town has a population of about 9000 people (2010) Location of the project :

  4. subject : • project is aiming to construct of water transmission line starting from well No.3 to the tank No.1(2100 m of 8 inch) and from this tank to KufurRuman tank (2300 m of 6 inch)steel pipes.

  5. Project Overview “ pipeline Project for Anabta village/ Tulkarm “ ** The whole pipeline length for the project to be constructionis about 4 km .

  6. The activities for this project is : • Mobilization and Demobilization • Earth works • Supply of pipes • Valves and Fitting • Installation of pipes • Provisional Item

  7. MOBILIZATIONAllow for each and every expense to mobilize, set up offices, stores, compound, signs, Insurance, etc…, including any taxes, rents, temporary facilities and electricity

  8. EARTH WORKS include : • * Excavate • ** Soft Backfilling For Trenches • *** Final Backfilling and Reinstatement

  13. Summary of the bills:

  14. chart diagram

  15. Sample on Comparison between two bids Supply of pipes For bed A When Contractor A, calculated the amounts, he depended on the Israeli cost since it is cheaper and has all the specifications. And after taking the bid, it was found that the Palestinian Water Authority prefers the national industry so it was agreed on the Israeli cost between the contractor and the factory, and on the same specifications.

  16. For bed B, When contractor B, calculated the amounts, he from the beginning depended on the Palestinian cost even though it is more expensive and has all the specifications .

  17. Earth works For bed A the contractor want to rent all machine which he need to complete the work . For bed B • the contractor have all machine which he need to complete the work ( he don’t need to rent any machine )

  18. Conclusion : • 1)The increase in the number of the contracting corporations in the Palestinian market led to bids less than the estimated cost, since many corporations calculate the bid as to cover all their overhead expenses in order to guarantee it’s place in the market and to keep the employees working for these corporation through covering their salaries and expenses.

  19. 2) The decrease in the number of the bids in markets in contrast with the number of the existing corporations because of many external political reasons which aims to affect the internal economical policies of Palestine.

  20. 3)Sometimes , it’s not the gains which comes in the first place for the contractors, but it’s the reputation which matters to them specially when they are fresh contractors or the corporation which they belong to is fresh and new.
